Controls engineering from functional definition to commissioning.
TBC delivers defined engineering packages across PLC, SCADA, electrical-control design, power management, process controls, testing and technical recovery.
PLC engineering
PLC software is developed from the operating philosophy and I/O, not improvised around individual devices. TBC structures modes, sequences, interlocks, permissives, alarms, diagnostics and communications so the code can be tested, understood and changed.
- Software architecture and standards
- Sequences, interlocks and permissives
- Communications and package interfaces
- Simulation, fault finding and controlled backups
Issued with agreed naming, revision history and test evidence.
SCADA & HMI
An operator should be able to see what the plant is doing, why it stopped and what action is required. TBC develops clear HMI and SCADA applications with consistent navigation, alarm handling, trends, data and diagnostics.
- Screen hierarchy and navigation
- Alarm and event presentation
- Trends, reports and data logging
- User access and operator workflows
Navigation, alarm priorities, tags, users and data functions documented for testing and handover.
Electrical & control-system design
Electrical-control information should be complete enough to manufacture, install, test and modify without relying on assumptions. TBC produces schematics, panel layouts and schedules that remain aligned with the functional design and software.
- Control schematics, layouts and functional diagrams
- I/O, terminal, cable and equipment schedules
- Power supplies, protection and segregation
- BOMs, interfaces and manufacturing support
Schematics, layouts, I/O, terminals, cables and BOM information issued under revision control.
Power-management systems
Power-management projects depend on clear authority between mains, generators, switchgear, PV, BESS and third-party controllers. TBC defines and implements the sequences, permissives, load priorities and interfaces needed for safe, resilient operation.
- Generator, mains and automatic-transfer control
- Synchronising and breaker-control interfaces
- Load shedding, restoration and priority management
- PV, BESS, metering and third-party coordination
Control authority, breaker actions, load priorities and failure responses defined before testing.
Functional design
Good software starts with a testable description of what the system must do. TBC develops control philosophies, FDS and SDS documents, cause-and-effect matrices and I/O or interface schedules that resolve ambiguity before hardware and code are committed.
- Control philosophies, FDS and SDS documents
- Cause-and-effect matrices
- I/O, interface and equipment schedules
- Testable acceptance criteria
Requirements written so each function, interface and failure response can be traced into FAT and SAT.
Process & hazardous-area engineering support
TBC supports petrochemical tank-storage and process-industry projects where PLC, SCADA, instrumentation, packaged plant and safety-related interfaces must be coordinated. Experience includes engineering work on COMAH-regulated and hazardous-area sites, with project responsibilities and certification boundaries kept explicit.
- Tank-farm, pump, valve and product-transfer sequences
- Process permissives, trips and shutdown-system interfaces
- Tank gauging, overfill, fire-and-gas and package interfaces
- Brownfield changes, DSEAR/ATEX-aware coordination and controlled commissioning
Sequences, permissives, trips and equipment interfaces defined for review, testing and controlled site implementation.
Testing, commissioning & recovery
Testing should prove the system against agreed operating and failure scenarios, not just demonstrate that individual signals change state. TBC prepares and executes FAT and SAT, supports commissioning, investigates faults and closes changes into the final handover.
- FAT, SAT and integrated test procedures
- I/O, communications, sequence and failure-mode testing
- Fault finding, modifications and project recovery
- Snag management, retesting and as-built handover
Requirements, outcomes, defects, retests and final software or drawing revisions kept traceable.
Technical consultancy
TBC provides independent technical input where a project needs clearer scope, stronger controls strategy, design assurance or a practical recovery plan before further hardware, software or site work is committed.
- Technical surveys, feasibility studies and scope development
- Tender, design and vendor-document reviews
- Controls strategy, interface coordination and client representation
- FAT, SAT, commissioning and project-recovery planning
Findings, assumptions, risks, responsibilities and recommended next steps set out clearly for decision and execution.
